Five thousand women entrepreneurs will receive grants
State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has announced that 5000 women entrepreneurs of the country will be given a grant of Tk 50,000 each. He said, through women and e-commerce, he has crossed the borders of Bangladesh in Europe, London and signed the country's women's leadership. In 64 districts and 500 Upazilas of the country, grants will be started in this financial year as startup seed money to start businesses of women entrepreneurs of the country. 2000 women entrepreneurs have been given a grant of 50,000 taka each from the iDEA project under the ICT department.
The State Minister made this announcement while speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of "WE Colorful Fest 2024" organized by Women and E-Commerce Trust WE, an organization of domestic women entrepreneurs at Purbachal of the capital on Saturday, March 2.
The state minister said that e-commerce is expanding through the businesses of women entrepreneurs. The ICT Division is training women entrepreneurs to enhance their skills. They are playing an important role in the economic development of the country. All these are made possible due to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has established Bangladesh as a shining example or role model of women's empowerment, women's rights and gender equality all over the world. She is a pioneer of women empowerment and job creation. Through her tireless hard work and visionary thinking, sensibility and all, the women of Bangladesh have visibly advanced in every field. Like the rest of the world, Bangladesh is also going through the golden age of information technology freedom.
Referring to the low-cost high-speed internet that has been extended up to the Union level, the state minister said that currently the number of internet users in the country is more than 13 crores. Having high speed internet facility is enabling the entrepreneurs of the country to expand their products and business. More than 2000 services have been digitized so that people can get their required services at convenient time, place and medium. More than 18 thousand entrepreneurs are working in more than 9 thousand digital centers across the country to deliver services to people's doorsteps. Where almost 50 percent are women entrepreneurs. He also said that as a result of this, on the one hand, the inequality between men and women is being eliminated , on the other hand, the inequality between the rich and the poor and the inequality between villages and cities has also been eliminated.
He said the Prime Minister has adopted and implemented various programs aimed at creating financial self-sufficiency and capacity building for women. 10,500 women entrepreneurs have been created in 21 districts through She Power Project. In the remaining 43 districts, more than 25 thousand smart women entrepreneurs will be created through Her Power Project.
Women and e-commerce forum founder Nasima Akhtar Nisha presided over the event while James Gardiner, Foreign Service Officer for Economics, Science and Technology of the United States Embassy in Dhaka, GSM Zafarullah, MD of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, Shomi Kaiser, President of e-CAB and others were present.
